In order to have a fully functional roofing system, a necessary element lies with the proper install of chimney flashing.

Proper chimney flashing protects your chimney and roof from water damage and penetration. A bad installation could damage the integrity of your roofing system with the worst-case scenario being the premature installation of a new roof.

The chimney flashing installation begins with the formation of a cricket. Using it allows water to be diverted away from the chimney. Once the cricket is in place, an ice and water shield underlayment is placed to prevent water from slipping in between certain blind spots.

With the cricket firmly in place, we can proceed to grinding in the chimney flashing. Doing so allows for the cover of the chimney flashing going underneath.

From there, we work with pieces of metal step flashings to go between the shingle and chimney. The step flashings direct the water back to the asphalt shingles below and off the roof.

After the step flashings are placed, the last process of the flashing process is fabricating the custom chimney counter flashing.

It is then placed onto the chimney itself to deliver an exceptional and water proofed system to keep your roof and chimney leak-free for the foreseeable future.
