When the owners of this coastal Watermill retreat began planning a roof replacement, they weren’t looking for just another contractor — they were looking for craftsmanship. Their home, a classic East End estate tucked between rolling lawns and breezy ocean air, demanded a roof that matched its architectural integrity and coastal charm.

The vision was clear: a natural cedar shake roof with copper detailing, built to weather the elements and mature beautifully with time. Our Signature Projects team delivered a bespoke solution that elevated every detail — from custom copper open valleys to the carefully staggered shake pattern that adds dimension and rhythm across the roofline.

Every shake was hand-selected for consistency in grain, thickness, and color tone, then installed with precision across hips, dormers, and intersecting ridges. The copper flashings and valleys were left exposed, designed to oxidize into a soft green patina that will only enhance the estate’s presence over the decades.
