How long do Owen’s Corning Duration Shingles last?
This will obviously depend on your climate and a few other factors, but in general, these shingles have been engineered for both beauty and toughness. And that durability begins with Owens Corning SureNail technology.
There are several features of this ground-breaking technology that deserve mentioning. The consistent fastening and triple-layer protection add additional reinforcement. And the enhanced Tru-Bond sealant adds another adhesive quality, as it provides a tighter grip to the layer underneath that keeps the shingles securely laminated together.
Now, if you’re not in the roofing business, this may sound like a bunch of industry jargon, and you’d be right. Just know that the difference between a good shingle and a great shingle is achieved with the SureNail technology fabric strip. The tough woven strip is embedded into nailing areas for every Duration series shingle. Are Owens Corning Duration Shingles impact resistant?
The short answer is yes, especially if you purchase the Duration Storm line of Owens Corning shingles. The longer answer requires more industry jargon. Thanks in part to Owens Corning patented WeatherGuard technology, Duration Shingles have a rating of UL 2218 class 4. This is the highest rating for impact resistance; there is no class 5.
Another reason for the superior impact resistance of the Trudefinition Duration Shingles is the integrated polymeric backing material that’s present on each shingle. All you have to know about these shingles is that they’re tough, and once in place, they tend to stay in place.
Are Owens Corning Duration Shingles ENERGY STAR rated?
Indeed, they are. We don’t have to tell you how important an ENERGY STAR rating is when it comes to saving money on your cooling and heating bills. Just like energy-efficient home appliances, your roofing can (and should) have those same qualities.
